The Issues
One of my main reasons for running is a concern for the direction the current city council is taking our community without the valued input and advice of its community members and taxpayers. We need a council that listens to the concerns and opinions of all its constituents.
My goal in becoming an Alderperson is to be a non-partisan sounding board and proactive listening ear with a pulse on the community. I will do my best to take into consideration the needs and wants of this community.
Madison Metro
I believe the Madison Metro Transit plan decision was made in haste. The majority of people that weighed in at council meetings were not in favor, yet the proposal was passed. If partnering with Madison Metro is the best option for Monona there needs to be a route that does not entail navigating our residential streets. These streets cannot safely manage pedestrian, bike, car, and bus traffic.
Public Safety
I practice a safety first mentality in my professional life. In order to continue to have a vibrant and growing community the council needs to have a safety first mindset. This means working with and supporting the Monona Police Department. We need to make sure that any changes or improvements are to enhance the safety of everyone in our community.
Fiscal Responsibility
A strength I bring as a council candidate is my experience leading a successful operation. This includes setting and staying on budget. We need to find ways to continually improve our city and existing amenities while staying within our annual budget and without increasing the burden placed on our residents.
Sustainability
I was a member of our Sustainability committee at Therma-Stor and find it important to consistently find ways to be better. We need to evaluate other modalities to ensure we are reducing waste and providing the future generations of our city ecological health and vitality.
